1. A river system, (that is river along with its tributaries) of an area is called Drainage.

2. The drainage basin is the area drained by a single river system.

3. Amazon river has the world’s largest drainage basin.

Himalayan rivers- The Indus, The Ganga and The Brahmaputra together forms the Himalayan rivers

• These are perennial rivers that are they are rain fed as well as snow falls have water throughout the year. 
•  Himalayan rivers have long courses 
• They form depositional floodplains and deltas

Peninsular rivers

• Peninsular rivers may be east flowing and west flowing
• They are Seasonal and fed by rainfall. 
• The water table is reduced during dry water season
• They have shorter and shallower courses
• Most of these rivers originate in the Western Ghats and flow towards the Bay of Bengal
